octavia vrs mk 2 pd engine with hiccupS!

Featured Replies

lads my second ever post here and its begging for advice!!!!!

Anyway got my vrs serviced by an indy last friday, he sone all the filters and oil.

since then the car has developed a running issue as in when driving along it just dies under the accelerator, the rev counter goes up and down, there is a clicking from the dash and it cuts back in again afterwards.

Sometimes it will cut out but it is an errattic problem as in it doesnt happen every drive.

No the problem is when the diagnosis tool is on the car it has lost power and wont read the faults

my mechanic has changed the ignition switch, and played around with the relays, still nothing on his machine no codes are shown , but i borrowed my brothers machine earlier an code 00668 battery voltager treminal came up which i cleared.

Its very frustrating and it is even making me think of selling the car when its finally right.

anyone got any ideas?

I've got running issues with my pd engine but mine seem slightly different, as well as others things. I feel exactly the same so tempted to get rid of it, it is by far the worst car I have ever bought so annoying. Good luck.

This may sound obvious but have you checked the battery terminals ??

I think it was advice the OP was after.

battery terminals ive checked them and they seem tight im checking everything and anything now thanks for the suggestion though.

cut out on me today after a motorway drive at 140kmh when i pulled in at a junction it just died had the code reader in but nothing on it when it cut out.

frustrating isnt the word!!!!

Was the fuel filter changed? Air lock/air leaks in the fuel lines?

The fuel filter was changed in the service on the 22nd of june would this be still air locked now and would an air lock make it jup the whole time rather then now and again???

No, I think an air lock would have cleared by now, so I guess that's not likely.

Just to say on this matter, i think its fairly common fault. i have encountered 3 or more posts on this site regarding this problem on the PDengine and no one has had a real fix.

i have changed my R1 relay and it still jumps when it wants to, and the ignition switch. The car still is faulty. ive spent a large amount of money and time and even contacted VW group and nothing.

im really annoyed with this car and to be honest i am going to sell it when i repair it, with all the sensor failures, dpf issues, injectors and now this. i need my car for work and its leaving me down badly.

it seems like this car needs kid gloves and to be honest it shouldnt. its a poor reflection on skoda as my car seems to be in the garage or laid up more than its on the road.

im going to put the car back into skoda tomorrow and it wont come out until its 100%. if anyone has these faults i will be happy to tell people how mine was repaired and save them a few quid.

im afraid its back to toyota for me, and i will be selling my corrado aswell in protest

Ok lads,

im sorry for dragging this up again i know i have PM with same problems, it turns out that the wire leading to the crank sensor was melted and was shorting out the car, it cost me €300 to repair, so if this is happening to you check this first.

Thanks for getting back on this - could be really helpful.

I'm glad u got it sorted ! On mine it was the injector loom which was shorting out and it gave my mechanic the worst fault finding exercise of his career...

Anyway my vrs is running fine and as long as it behaves itself, its staying !

The ds3 will have to wait....

That is a fairly common problem. Some people have been known to carry a loom as a spare part so when it goes they can get the AA to fit it at the roadside!
