2006 Skoda Octavia 2.0T FSI VRS

My 56 reg TFSi was recently traded - had a brief discussion with one member on here but he felt he could get better elsewhere (fair enough) but I ended up trading for over £5k including the tax back. Had 60k on it, cambelt, water pump, etc all done, had been generally loved and looked after very well but had a couple of nighles which were fully disclosed (small scratch in rear quarter panel which polished out in the end and needed a service being the main two). Had one brand new tyre and the other three were all put on in August.

Why do I mention it?

1) there is a downside to the freedom only ads - having had one (polite) suggestion that my asking of 5.5k was too high to bother negotiating with, and with little time to spare, I decided not to bother advertising properly.

2) I remain a little disappointed that this car, having been looked after by me very well and having had no expense spared during my ownership, found its way into a p/x rather than finding someone who would treat it as I had.

That said, in the days before trade; it developed a whir from the heater/fans and a clunk from the drivers seat. Doubt we were were talking mega bucks to fix, but would have felt terrible if I'd sold it to a fellow member and these faults had suddenly appeared as they certainly hadn't presented themselves previously........

Well it looked ok in the photos :giggle: It had been rear ended, back lights were new and bumper paint delaminating and flaking off to show other paint underneath. It stank of smoke, all the interriour plastics were scratched .The engine bay was filthy, the nearside mirror was scraped. The gas struts for the tailgate hardly lifted it,one of the strings for the parcel shelf was missing. Nowhere were receipts for a clutch, no brake fluid stamp on battery cover , and the belt but no waterpump done. The new front tyres were budget, a Dunlop and a Goodyear on rear It drove ok. All in all an unloved car, and way too expensive for the condition

:o Shocking then. Good job you knew what you were looking at/for!

It is a shame that you traded it ,yours would have been ideal for him, condition is everything .
