check for a receipt of fuel pump cam follower and wear to the inside edge of the rear tyres

It had its MOT 3 days ago so the tyres should be fine,

whats the issue with the fuel pump?

cam follower? what the hell is that? lol

Don't worry about mileage. Mines on 123k and touch wood has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Even at stage 2 +

the fuel pump is driven from a cam lobe, there is a sacrificial bucket between the cam lobe and the hpfp,it is teflon coated for low friction.

its not a hugely critical issue, but if one was to wear through you would be in trouble, check to see when it was last done.

also mine is on 152k,and will be going stage 2 eventually.

a full service history usually means the car will be in good shape

Cheers what about the ££££

Check the clutch!

apart from the height it bites at is there any other way to check?

Uphill low revs high gear.

Where is it ?, I could go with you, off tomorrow, and I have a 2006 TFSI

If clutch starts slipping I.e revs increasing but car not getting faster. Then the clutch is on its way out. Mine is on original clutch and has been fine even at stage 2 +

Private sale so evening then?

you can tell if they have been motorway miles as the front bumper and in particular the bit of the bonnet between the lights and grill will have alot of stonechips.

if you do buy the car it might be worth getting a free alignment check as it is very common for the toe/camber to become misaligned

I am going to view with him, my 2006 car never had any issues on feathering, but did 4wa at ABC in Pudsey after lowering and koni fsd and new drop links and bushes

Cheers mate see you tomorrow,

They're prone to stone chips anyway.

Check the sills for rust and bubbling above the thick chip paint.

Check the water pump was done with the timing belt, not everyone does.

Watch the bonnet handle doesnt come off in your hand as it did for me when I went to view mine lol

Well it looked ok in the photos :giggle: It had been rear ended, back lights were new and bumper paint delaminating and flaking off to show other paint underneath. It stank of smoke, all the interriour plastics were scratched .The engine bay was filthy, the nearside mirror was scraped. The gas struts for the tailgate hardly lifted it,one of the strings for the parcel shelf was missing. Nowhere were receipts for a clutch, no brake fluid stamp on battery cover , and the belt but no waterpump done. The new front tyres were budget, a Dunlop and a Goodyear on rear It drove ok. All in all an unloved car, and way too expensive for the condition

Ar well can't win them all. Plenty more fish in the sea. A BIG thanks to Alan for giving up his time for a newbie. Cheers mate

Brake fluid stamp on the battery cover?? new one on me.

Brake fluid stamp on the battery cover?? new one on me.

I'm sure there is/was a sticker on the battery cover that they use to record brake fluid changes it usually falls off though.
