interior sounds and squeeks

Featured Replies

Hi,

don't know if it's just mine but I have a lot of interior sounds and squeeks

anybody has the same issues? fixes?

There are quite some squeeks coming from the roof so I'm thinking about removing it and putting some insulation in between.

Are there easy ways to reduce engine noises?

Cheers

great, and any advice on where to put it? between doorpanels and door for example?

cheers

where to put it?

where it squeaks basically

You need to identify where the noise comes from, then see if you can see what is rubbing.

Some squeaks can be fixed by just tightening fixing screws etc. Sometimes you'll see a distinct polished effect where surfaces are rubbing. Which is where felt tape comes in.

My door pins rattle allways have and allways will.

Iv tried everything you cant just wedge it coz the central locking wont work if the pins are stiff.

ok adressed first squeek... the armrest

the fabric is mounted on a plastic lit, and in my case that was making an annoying squeeky sound every time I put my arm on the armrest

I've cut out some strips of rubber and wiggled them in between the fabric and the lit... no more squeeking

sorry for the bad pics, too dark and too close

I get a massive creak from under my dash every so often. Handbrake button used to rattle until I taped the bugger up...

ok, second - and main - thing that annoyed me, at around 2000 rpm I heard a kind of rattle from the engine bay

I had this kind of rattle before, It turned out to be the rod to keep the hood open which rubbed against the metal frame between the lights (holding the bonnet lock and stuff- don't know the proper name for it). I fixed that by putting some insulating tape around the rod on the place where it touched the metal frame and the rattle was gone.

This time I

- adjusted the bonnet (elevated it a bit) because it was about 2mm or so lower compared to the fenders

- tightened the headlights and indicators

- put some insulation tape around the wire that goes to the bonnet lock

- put some felt under the license plate

I don't know what was the exact root cause but rattle @2000 rpm is gone :-)

I must say driving the octavia has become more enjoyable with just these two things fixed... my gf calls me crazy, and my friend tells me to put the music louder :giggle: but when I drive a car with a lot of interior noises, squeeks and rattles I'm just getting the feeling I'm driving ****ty quality which I know the octavia is not

Next up my list: passengers door: makes a noise like it's not correctly in the lock or something

cheers

I have a squeek comming from behind the Speedo.

If I push on clocks it goes.

Must get round to sorting it.

Just turn the stereo up another notch cures most squeaks and rattles :giggle: :giggle:

As Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth would say "good news everyone"... :giggle:

Door noise is fixed as well... it was indeed the door lock as I suspected. I first moved the lock "catch" (or how do you call it) inwards towards the interior but this didn't help, I then moved it upwards a couple of mm and the noise was gone

Fixing these 3 things have already improved the driving experience a great deal I must say

next up... squeeking driver seat

cheers

My sunroof rattles on those small rough patches you get. Don't know why and I want it gone but not sure how :(

My glove box rattles and squeaks at the point of ripping it out and hossing it out the window at speed
