Well life does like to challenge you :D

On way home car working fine, filled up the tank with some 99ron :)

Car failed to start :( pushed around the side of my local shell garage (10 miles from home) and started the joys of confirming what the hell had gone wrong

After various tests had my money on the fuel pump, had a friend come and collect me (AA only going to tow me home) in crazy arse traffic took an hr to do 15min drive and then get spare pump out of other octavia fit at petrol station and problem solved

Have to say not a job to do on a FULL tank of fuel and for some reason there is a pipe that connects to the fuel canister but for the life of me at 8.30pm could not work out where so dropped in, lost about 10litres of fuel in total and drove home. Got to love petrol all over you and the stronge smell on the way to work this morning lol

Now when I removed the pump from the 4x4 slaoon this plastic section with failrly wide black hose was not there but was attached to the estate pump housing?

Anyone got a pic of where this actually goes? Got a bit of splutter this morning and suspect its due to this hose poss not been connected, looks like it directs the fuel to the outer casing

The joys of car woes when you really dont need them and really could have done without been in work suit :D

So what are you saying?

You have 2 octys one a 4x4 and. The other fwd?

If so the 4x4 pump will have another popeon it that allots pickup from the other half the taank. Unlike the fwd one that is just one large tank. The fwd one just has a power connector on top and 2 pipe push on connectors. One black n one white iirc one is out and other is the low preasur return. Iirc its the white thats the return but not 100%.

Thx for the reply billy - both 4x4 octavia's one a saloon and the other estate - I though both had the bigger tank over the fwd versions.

There was the 2 wire block connecter and a push fit fuel pipe also - the estate had this plastic part with black ribbed hose with what looks like a fuel feed or pickup but could not work out how it connected - pick of it would be perfect

Makes sense what it i for just need to work out how it connects :)

Thanks again
