Urgent help please

Featured Replies

I have been suffering from vibration and knocking issues for about 2 weeks which I thought was deteriorating bushes (was also an advisory in the MOT). However I got home last night to find the rear off side (drivers side) tyre was partially shredded down to the wire for about 30cm on the side nearest the vehicle, the other side still had about 3mm of tread and the whole tyre had 3mm of tread about 2 weeks ago.

I replaced the damaged tyre with the spare however I am concerned that whatever ate away at the old tyre will do the same to the brand new spare!!

What could be causing the issue? I occasionally get creaking/knocking noises from the front near side (passenger side) so could this manifest itself as diagonal damage

to the offside rear tyre? If so what is it likely to be? Can deteriorating bushes cause such bad tyre wear in such short time?

All tyres were been balanced when new, alignment was performed at the same time and tyre pressure has been checked weekly. The car is due new tyres around now but I am reluctant to fit a whole set if this issue is going to be on going, please help!!

Bearing/rack/rack ends are the three i would start by looking at dude.
