Drivetrain noise...?

Featured Replies

When lifting off the accelerator abruptly there's a clonking noise from the front end. It also occurs when changing gear going up the gears, happens when letting out the clutch after the next gear is selected.

Car is a 2003 Fabia SDi estate.

Any ideas? Thanks :)

Sounds like an engine/gearbox mount to me. Could also be worn wishbone/suspension bushes.

Get someone to startup, rev and stop the engine for you while you look at it. If it shakes around quite a lot then it is likely the rear engine/gearbox mount often called the dogbone mount (due to it's appearance).

Cheers Phil. :)

I'll do that, forgot to add that the clutch butting point is quite high and slight noise from the release bearing when in neutral. Could this be a potential cause of the noise also?
