Zenec MC-2010

Featured Replies

Copy of an email sent to Zenec. Cant beleive they still have not implemented decent mp3 navigation. I suppose I could create lots of playlists with items in the right order but it rankles.

I have a ZE-NC2010 with the latest V11 software installed.

The iPod navigation is not good navigate by album for large numbers of albums (I have > 600) is essentially useless due to the lack of a search facility and the fact you can’t first select the artist. There is however a workaround for the iPod Nano but this does not work for the iPhone 4S. I describe the issue below.

Navigation is just about acceptable for my iPod nano (4th generation). When you navigate to an artist it plays the songs in album order and also in the correct track number order per album. The only thing missing is to select an artist then select the album but since you can skip down to the start of the songs for album you are interested in it is more irritating that unusable.

e.g. Selecting Bon Jovi for an iPod nano (4th generation)shows something like the following for the 17 albums and 179 songs

Undivided Bounce

Everyday Bounce

The Distance Bounce

Joey Bounce

Always Pure Rock Ballads

This Aint a Love song Pure Rock Ballads

Wanted Dead or Alive This Left Feel Right

Living on a Prayer This Left Feel Right

Bad Medicine This Left Feel Right

…. This Left Feel Right

Always This Left Feel Right

… This Left Feel Right

Etc This Left Feel Right

However if you plug an iPhone 4S (with hundreds of individual albums on it) the navigation by Artist behaviour changes to the point it is not usable. Specifically, when you navigate to the Artist it simply lists all of the artists songs in alphabetical order over all albums. This is totally useless. I have several albums per artist I want to listen to my songs in the correct order – not the five different versions of the same song one after the other from different albums which.

e.g. Selecting Bon Jovi for an iPhone 4S shows something like the following for the 17 albums and 179 songs. Totally useless.

Always Pure Rock Ballads

Always This Left Feels Right

Always 100,000,000 Fans Cant be wrong

Bad Medicine New Jersey

Bad Medicine One Wild Night Live

Bad Medicine This Left Feels Right

Can you let me know when or if you plan to patch the software so that the songs displayed for Navigate by Artist are sorted by album, then track order as per the iPod Nano.

Thanks

In advance.

P.S. The forum editor has mangled the email formatting.

I have the same head unit, but don't use an Ipod ('cos I hate Apple  ) However, the navigation is pretty sucky using MP3 files on a memory stick as well.

The folder structure works ok: my mp3's are saved in a folder per album, these are then saved in a folder per artist. What really annoys about the zenec is that it displays the artist folders in the order they were added to the memory stick, not alphabetically! I've found a freeware app called mp3dirsorter that physically re- arranges all the folders on the memory stick in alphabetical order.

Also, it doesn't handle track numbers properly. If your tracks are numbered 1-9, then 10 11 12 and so on, the zenec will play them in the order 1, 10, 11, 12, 2, 3, 4 etc. The only way I've found to fix this is to renumber all the tracks 01, 02, 03 and so on. This took a long time.......

I know it's an older model now, but this stuff should have been done properly from the start.
