HP Touchpad

Featured Replies

Just bought myself one of these.

Intending on installing Cyanogenmod Android Ice Cream Sandwich on it. Had a play around with WebOS, seems OK but it is lacking a bit in apps, hence installing Android.

Has anyone got any experience of installing Android on the HP Touchpad?

I know there are guides out there on the net but I am just looking for someone with first hand experience.

Thanks.

Hi there.

I did this on my Touchpad around 8 months ago just to see if it was a useable version of Android. It's quite good. All the apps I tried seemed to install ok and it worked well.

The process is fairly straight forward. I followed a guide I found and it took about 1/2 an hour. You need a PC plus the Touchpad and a transfer cable.

I now get a boot menu when I turn the tablet on and can select either WebOS or Andoid.

I must admit though I only use WebOS now because I find the OS nice to use and I only really use it for web browsing or the Kindle app.

I've forgotten the finer details of the installation but if you have any questions I'll try and answer them.

Thanks for your reply.

webOS is really straight forward to use however I'm having problems syncing more than 1 Google calender.

And strangely I can't find the Kindle app in the HP app catalog! Where did you get it from?

I've stuck Android ICS on it and I must say so far so good. Using it more than webOS. The install was quite straight forward as well.
