Thanks. I shall try to sort the motor out - if not, the Octavia I stripped today will be re-visited and the V71 motor removed and I shall replace mine to see if that cures that one. By my logic, the

yes - fitted with climatronic

Also tested some input pins - reading 12v on 4 and 9 as expected, reading 12v on 8 (plenum) but 0v on pin 1 which i thought to be a fused supply - yet all fuses on battery are ok and 12v post fuse

On the diagram, I think you are looking at pin 1 on the 4-pin connector.

If you hook up VCDS-Lite and go into Climatronic, do you get any fault codes.

So I was! I know I have good wiring from the control unit to the compressor, and it is functioning correctly. I have 3 fan control modules to test. I am getting 12v from the plenum to the module, and am now out of ideas

There is no 'Climatronic' section on VCDS Lite that I can find. Now running full check of car, but did this yesterday and no fault codes shown.

It's Module 08 - it's labelled something like auto HVAC.

Something isnt going right - I am getting 'no response from controller' yet i just ran a full scan no problem

I assume you had the ignition on when tried to go into the module.

If you go into 01 Engine or 17 Instruments, do you get the same error?

  • Author

Yes - same response from both 01 and 17

That means, that either VCDS isn't working or you have an aftermarket head unit?

If you go into VCDS->Options and press Test, what to you see?

You shouldn't have auto-scan with VCDS-Lite (I'm assuming that's what you have). If you have an eBay lead, then you should be running VCDS-Lite. Are you sure that's what you are running?

I have VCDS Lite and an Ebay lead.

Got it working - fault code 01274 on module 08 - HVAC. Can't clear it, Each time i clear, its straight back again,

Try the following...

Start with the key out of the ignition.

Put key in ignition and turn on ignition - do not start car.

Simultaneously hold the ECON and the 'Airflow to Head' button.

You should hear the flaps moving. When it's finished, turn off the ignition and remove the key.

Done that. Aircon still not engaging, blowers 'pulse' still at full force. Is replacing / repairing this likely to fix my aircon, or is this just something I didnt know was wrong, but was before?

Still can't figure out why no A/C compressor.

Googling this fault, it appears to be a separate thing. I will sort this out in due course.

With no other faults, I am now struggling to work out why I have no A/C. One thought I have had is if the gas is not at correct pressure, would this cause the issue?

I know that the compressor works, and that there is no wiring issue between the fan control module and the compressor. Is there any way I can test each component further up the loom, or any other points I can check? There must be something stopping the power down to the compressor, just what? VCDS hasnt brought anything up other than the V71.

Can you clear the code now?

see for code 01274 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01274.

Now you have VCDS working, go into 08 HVAC.

What is the part number?

Select measuring blocks. If you cycle through the groups, can you find 'outside air temp', 'shutdown criteria' and G65 reading.

That link has no text at the end of it!

This is what I get:

VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.0

Monday, 09 July 2012, 19:20:46:0

Control Module Part Number: 1U1 907 044 A

Component and/or Version: CLIMATRONIC C 2.0.0

Software Coding: 11000

Work Shop Code: WSC 31480

1 Fault Found:

01274 - Unknown Error Code

37-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration

I cannot clear this - it re-appears after I have cleared it.

Outside air temp is 17 deg C

Cycling groups i cannot find the G65 or shutdown criteria. I can find a voltage reading at A/C clutch, which is blank

What is the first field in Measuring Block 1?

That should be the shutdown code.

By my logic, the pressure sensor is not faulty, or it would read on VCDS as a fault? Likewise the fan control module? With no fault codes, I am struggling to think what could be the problem to be honest. I know the loom from fan module to compressor is good, and so is the compressor. This could be something stupid I have missed, or its a gas problem - too much or too little, causing the pressure sensor to cut in and prevent the compressor engaging?

First field - compressor shutoff - 7.0

Are the fans blowing? Is Econ off?

Hold the ECON and RECIRC down and turn the ignition on. What happens?
