Reverse park aid - sensor removal

Featured Replies

For some time now I have had a problem where, about two seconds after selecting reverse, there is a loud bleep from the nearside A pillar and the system shuts down. During the recent dry spell (anyone remember it?!) the system behaved faultlessly and is now playing up again, so I suspect an insulation problem somewhere. I thought I would start with the sensors themselves, but it appears I shall have to drop the bumper unless they can be removed from outside. Has anyone done this? Any useful ideas greatly appreciated.

I have had a problem with one sensor dropping off the bumper from the inside. There was JUST enough room to put it back by undoing the lower bumper retaining fixings (plastic push in ones) and stickin git back with Evo Stick. Even then it took some skin off my forearm.

To check out the electrics properly I think there's no option but take the bumper off.

Hi John

Just noticed your post so this may be too late. The only sensor which can be reached easily is the nearside one above the exhaust. It is held in place by a very simple double clip system which has to be 'popped'.....................much easier said than done. If you have access to a car lift you will actually be able to see it.

This sensor is very suseptible to water spray from the nearside rear tyre and is not really adequately waterproofed.

The best idea is to remove the rear bumper entirely............really very easy......probably 1 hour for first time.

If you want more detailed info please ask
