Do I go for a vRS or L&K?

Featured Replies

Yes it was, it's history did concern me though as it is a 57 plate with 23,000 miles and it has had 4 owners.

4 owners and only 23,000 miles in 5 years......are you confident the mileage is genuine?

Buy the L&K -if it doesn't have enough go, then get it remapped.

  • Having owned a VRS for a couple of years and having driven an L&K recently, Id have the L&K, no contest but different people wnat different things from their cars. One of my gripes with the VR

  • Traitor, you'd better change your username! Any pics of the S3?

Wouldn't have gone near that one with those stats. I'd have come back with the Octy anyway...

The posts have got me thinking, I'm not happy with it all and I'm due a call from them later today and I'm thinking of Rejecting it.i have done some research and under the sales of goods act I can reject it if its not fit purpose. Bearing in mind that I have visited the dealer 13 times since July 2012 I think that fits the bill nicely.

It was such a moment of madness buying it, ,maybe rejection could be a blessing in disguise!

All those previous owners could point to a history of people rejecting it too. Good luck.

That was about to be my next advice, reject under sale of goods act as not being fit for purpose or as described. I would suggest an initial discussion with the dealer stating that is the the route you intend to take and I expect they'll offer you your money back without you actually having to take it that far.

I've had a call from them and the sales manager and he even referred to it as "a bit of a lemon" lol. He said that he has spoken with Audi and they cannot explain the catalogue of faults as the S3 is one of the most reliable in the Audi range. He has agreed rejection is the right way forward and he needs to speak with the head office for guidance, he has arranged for me to visit to collect my s belonging out of its later and to discuss my options. He has suggested another car from the 5000+ group stock or refund is likely. Hopefully I will have more information later.

You have to be happy with that outcome? And good on the dealer for not sweeping your issues under the carpet and dealing with it in a fair and honest way.

I'm interested to see what happens next and what they offer as an alternative.

Are you back in the market for an L&K?

Yes, that's excellent news. A result!

Hate to say it but an L&K would have been my choice all the way, the VRS is far to stiff for my old bones now lol.

I'm home!

Well, slight back track as all he wanted to do was get the S3 repaired but I stuck to my guns and was adamant I was rejecting it. After 2 hours I have come away with a remittance advice for the full purchase price, minus my service plan I bought and GAP insurance.

They have agreed to honour the service plan on my next car (even if I don't buy it off them) but I need to get a GAP refund directly from them.

What a result. I'm so glad that nightmare is over

Good result - shame that you've had to go through all of that trouble with the car though

Owdee - Foursprung dirk poor technique. ....

I'm thinking of using the train :-)

This is the garage I've bought both my Octys from. It's family owned and I'd buy another from them no problem. While loads were waiting to get their blacklines for months I walked into savilles at the end of September and they got me one within 2 weeks. Patrick Sword is the sales director (and owners son) so would be the best person to speak to.

If you do have to get the train Kidderminster is the nearest station!

If you spoke nicely to them I bet they'd pick you up

best of luck

You know it makes sense.....

I wouldn't let that experience put you off an S3. These things happen. It depends what you want really. Difficult to compare an S3 to a vRS and more so to an L&K.

I've spent the most of the day looking for a new set of wheels and I'm thinking of going back to an octy as the Audi was nothing but trouble. Mrs Octy has now got it int her head that we need an extension on our house so looks my budget had just drastically changed. From the £16k I originally had to less than half. In all fairness we've agreed that £7k should get me a nice car and the 9k towards the extension. I'll keep you posted.

I think you should post some details of the S3 so at least Brisky members dont get burned with the same lemon. Partial reg and dealer should be enough and not implicate your self.

7k should get you a 2007/08 (give or take a year) low mileage good example L&K. By the way this is when the model changed slightly and quick easy test is does the car have full leather (older version) or leather and suade inserts (newer version). You can also tell by the alloys and the L&K badge on the front wings/doors.

Theres the 1.9 PD105 5 speed setup or the 2.0 PD140 6 speed setup. Pro's and con's with both options and plenty or indepth coverage on the site (do a search for all the info you need).

Ive recently bought one so know the current stock on autotrader and realistic prices.

If you see one you like the look of PM me with the details and I will tell you if its one ive been to look at.

Also theres a few to avoid and thanks to some help from fellow briskodians who have viewed a couple on my behalf you need to keep well away. (again do a search for all the deatils).

Good luck with the search and dont let the recent experience put you off too much. With cars your either lucky or your not. Paying the premium and buying from a dealer at least gives you the option to get things sorted or a refund if the worst happens. As the saying goes - You get what you pay for.

Heres a quick link to ones on autotrader:

They are sending it to auction. If anyone comes across a blue s3 starting EU57 then avoid it. It will haunt you

Think that says it all- not even the dealer wants anything to do with it now and would rather just cut their losses. Best of luck finding an Octy that fits your needs
