New windscreen

Does anyone know a supplier and fitter of cheap windscreens in north London area?

Are you not covered through your insurance as windscreens aren't cheap

Rang them this morning and it's not covered.

I'd ring round all you can find in yellow pages and get like for like prices as some will be pattern parts and some may be skoda parts. It would be no harm asking your local main dealer who they recommend. Also if you've ever used a local body repair shop or local small garage ask them who they use. As sometimes a company name drop can work in favour on price. Also if you can afford it cash payment can alter price sometimes

Who ever you go with, make sure you take pictures of the paint on the A Pillars. When I had a windscreen replaced on my old car, some monkey chipped all the paint down the A pillars and broke the alarm sensor to the bonnet. That was with National windscreens through my insurance. Unfortuantley it was after a night shift and I was sleepingso didnt get to see the damage until hours after he left! Luckily for him!

Is the fabia available with auto dimming rear view mirror and rain sensor?

If you want auto dimming mirror at some point then might be worth getting the appropriate windscreen with the right mount attached.

If mine ever breaks I will get the one for rain sensing wirpers and put in the wiring loom for the sensor I have ready to go in.

I'm not too worried about this really because it's a mates mate who's doing it for me and the whole front of the is going for a re spray at some point soon as its already tatty. But saying that the same thing happened to my other mates renault twingo RS he was gutted the conpany denied it all.

If it would of happened earlier in the year I would of but at the moment ive got to get it done as cheap as possible.

Not a regular poster, so hope this doesn't break any forum rules.

I had Unit18 fit a heated front screen to the missus vRS LE, so we have a spare screen sat with Al. Downside is, it'd mean a trip to MK...
