Remap boost surge issue resolved!

Featured Replies

Well this morn I just fitted a replacement n75 valve on my remapped octy vrs . Thanks to fellow member skinnyman for the valve . My car was surging an kangarooing badly from about 3000rpm onwards when giving it the shoe . I had my suspicions that it was my n75 valve as the car was running perfect before the remap an also for a few days after remap .. Anyways fitted the valve this morn an the car is a flyer again . Well happy .. Ps anyone having these issues should try an get a second hand n75 or borrow one an try it ,, just to rule out that problem . I was on the verge of getting another remap as I was told by many people that was my problem . Cheers

Mine had exactly the same problem and a new N75 sorted it too. If it was the map, it would have been jerky from the minute the map was installed.

What one exactly would I need for a remapped 1.8t aum ko3s...there seems to be a few different ones on ebay, with different ref numbers.

Just a quick update on this thread ... The n75 valve I fitted seems to have cured the majority of my surging / kangarooing type acceleration from 3000rpm on ... But to be honest there's still a slight bit there an this morning I changed the spark plugs to a set of Bosch super 4's to see would it completely cure the problem

But still no joy ... The plugs needed changing anyways as they haven't been done in 50 000 miles ... So I believe the problem after all was the map I had put on the car .. The car does run alot better now with the new plugs an replacement n75 fitted .. But my surge / on off acceleration feeling can still be ever so slightly felt ..... :(

There will be a slight surge as the turbo spools anyway, due to the fact it's a really small turbo and reacts very quickly. It will do this with the standard map, but any remap will highlight it due to the extra pressure etc.

You'll never get it to go straight to target boost without it overshooting a little bit.

Mine does it a really really really tiny bit when the turbo comes fully on boost about 3200RPM, but I don't notice anymore. If you let the revs build, rather than mashing the pedal to the metal, it won't do it.
