1.6 TDi CR 75PS

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if the the above engine is turbocharged as the information on the Skoda website suggests it isn't, but my dealer says it is. Would also appreciate the opinion of anyone who owns one regarding their experiences with the car. I am interested in this engine as I will occasionally tow a sailing dinghy and am a little concerned about the lower torque of the basic 1.2 petrol being insufficient. I have considered the 1.2 TSi 86PS as a n alternative but reports of excessive oil consumption and poor reliability on the forum have scared me off a little.

Thanks.

T in TDi means Turbo, surely.

Definitely Turbo'd mate. Skoda don't sell a non-turbo diesel anymore

i would go for the 105 or 90 engine, 75 is a little weak i found when testing one.

+1 on that!

I've got the tsi 86. Had it for a year now and

done 9k miles. It hasn't missed a beat and it hasn't needed a drop of oil. I think it's the VRS which is more susceptible to oil use.

As would I.

The 75 is detuned to fill a gap in the range, it's capable of so much more.

This is why the 1.2 - 3cyl diesel is quicker and more fuel efficient than the 1.6 - 4cyl.

If buying a 1.6 go for one with the power the engine can safely make, not a detuned range plugger.

If you want to go slowly get the 1.2 Greenline II. It's quicker, more economical and gets free road tax. :)
