Yety front grill badge

Featured Replies

Is there a trick to getting the badge off?

Is there a hole that you can assist the removal from behind, or do you have to resort to hairdriers, dental floss, WD40 etc?

I've got a Citigo badge to replace the original badge to match the wheel arch kit :giggle:

Have a look at this, you'll find it on page 3 or 4, You have to remove the grill to do it.

New bits added to my Yeti --- New Skoda emblem too!

First you will need to remove the chrome top grill. This is very easy. First remove the screw/bolt from behind the badge. You then have to remove 6 fasteners (located through holes in bonnet). Use an appropriate small long head socket (I think it is an 8mm), press very firmly (not twist) and the fasteners will just pop off. Heat up badge with hair dryer to soften adhesive, then gently lever off badge with flat head screwdriver. Break off the 3 locating pins from new CityGo badge (as they will not fit Yeti locating holes), then apply new badge. You might want to get some (official) Skoda badges for the wheel centres as well http://www.superskod...al-Skoda-Autoas

Aha, thanks very much - just what I wanted.

I'll have a go armed with this information.

Yety - sorry, but my above post is what you need to do to remove the top grill as well as badge (my top grill was removed because it was going to be covered in a black carbon wrap). If it's just the badge you are replacing, then you should be able to just undo the screw behind badge and remove badge as already explained. There should be no need to remove whole top grill, from what I recall. Good luck!

Thanks, I checked it out last night and understand what you say.

As it's not raining, I'll have a go this morning :whew:

Done.

The screw can stay there, it only holds the chrome bit securely on.

So, dental floss, WD40 and it came off quickly. Cleaned the sticky goo off and bunged the new badge on.

Looks good on the car, matches the wheel arch trim and other black plastic trim round this area.

That looks so much nicer!!

Where did you get the badge, Jerry?

Good job done Yety - now for those alloy wheel centres to finish the job.

Looking good...

Yes, looks better each time I look at it :giggle:

Got it from here Graham: http://www.skodaparts.com/products

I won't bother with the wheel centres unless/until they start corroding.

Some OEM badges are anodised aluminium covered in a protective transparent layer. The dyes fade, the aluminium corrodes, and the layer comes away from the aluminium. Better ones, I think, are all plastic with vacuum deposited "chrome" effect.
