Spraying front Grille

Featured Replies

hows it going!

right wanted to start this topic, im wanting to spray my front grille, colour code it.. whats the best way to go about it, ive heard loadsa stories but one grabbed my attention with this spray can DIY if you dont like it you can score through the layer and peel it straight off again?!

HELP!!

If you're happy to go for black, Google for Plastidip (it's matt black but you can add metalizer and gloss on top if you want that finish), there's a few videos on YouTube about it. Dead simple, basically just mask up and spray away, building it up layer by layer over a few hours. If you search here on Briskoda for Plastidip pretty sure someone did a nice guide to it not so long ago.

It's popular for use on grills and alloys, and you don't need to do any surface prep apart from a thorough clean beforehand, and you can peel it off to return it back to OEM if you ever want to. You don't get a big selection of colours though, really only suitable if you want to go black (you don't state what colour your car is) Otherwise you'll still need to do a full spray job, but I hope this post might help you anyway.

top dog!

cheers mate, literally just that, not any primer?

i Know tell me about it, sucks!

Yep, just make sure the surface is clean, then just spray on.

Lots of little coats make for a better finish than trying to get it all done in one.

by the looks of it youv got the same colour as my car.. wont it stand out like a dogs d*ck with the matte look?

Come along to this month's meet, you're welcome to have a look.

I've got both grill and spoiler plastidipped and they don't stand out.

You can go over the matte coat with Plastidip Glossifier F-799 if that's a concern, and if you want metallic sparkle you can spray Plastidip Metalizer on in between.

lads! finally got round to sorting my grille out, in the end, all that worrying of the matte look etc, it looks great!

It was a piece of p*** to take off and masked it all up and away i went, my first time spraying on this car but went well, that plastidip is so easy to use!

Ill have to make a thread, show you the difference!

but yea bottom line, cheers for all your advice and help!

Always nice when folks come back to let us know how they get on, glad it worked out so well

did mine on a black octavia with plastidip, only a grill but it looks so much better than the cheap looking crome
