Power problems

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I am the owner of an Octavia 1.9 tdi Elegance. Last year I had an engine go "bang" on me quite literally after 107K miles. I got a recon engine and turbo and had that fitted. The weird thing was that there was no engine warning light before it blew up.

Recently, the car went into limp mode (engine light on) and my local garage diagnosed a pipe had come off the turbo. Next day the light was back on and I noticed that there was a loss of power around 1500 to 2000 rpm which picked up after 2500 rpm. Took it back and they replaced the air flow meter. As soon as I got near a hill, I found I couldn't accelerate up the hill properly! (Not good at roundabouts either).

The garage have said that they can feel the flat spot in the turbo, but can't diagnose it without a code being logged.

My question is this really.....has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm panicing a bit now because I don't want this engine to go the same way.

Thanks in advance

Neil

Hi,

Get them to check the N75 valve, power problem solved on my car once this was replaced.
