Fabia vRS Tdi

Featured Replies

Evening all.

New to this forum but would like to know abit more about the fabia vRS tdi.

Im currently driving a ford focus ST and like alot of people that are selling there ST just cant afford the fuel cost to run the thing any more. So looking at a sporty more economical car.

What are peoples thoughts on the vRS? I know its a downgrade powerwise but does it still have some punch.

Remapped vRS will definitely feel comparable to the focus ST.

You can expect circa 175bhp and up to 300 lb/ft torque at a very useable

2500 odd revs. Still getting 50+ mpg if driven reasonably.

For me a remap is more about getting a better spread of power across the rev range

rather than it coming in big lumps like a stock one does.

A good remap will give you this. A bad one will eat your clutch due to excessive torque

or kill your turbo due to power spikes. There are twice as many cack tuners out there as there

good ones but if you stick to some of the Briskoda Sponsors tuners you'll be fine.

It's possible to tune one of these to the point where it will bash a stock Focus ST but

that will cost a lot. Oh and welcome by the way, to the best resource you'll find for learning

about these nifty little cars.

I can offer a bit of advice on this mate as ive just 'downgraded' from a focus RS to a fabia Vrs tdi.

I can confirm that the car does have a decent amount of punch and feels light and well planted. It takes a bit of practice not having 7000 revs to play with, but the torque surge is lovely (albeit it short lived) and the gears are nicely spaced so you can short shift and ride the wave of diesel power quite effectivly.

The real sweetener is obviously the 50+MPG and cheap tax.

Apart from the slight mechanical problem Ive just experienced, im quite happy!

Forgot to mention mine is standard at the moment, but im getting a Revo stage 1 map put on before the end of the month!

What prices should I be considering for a second vRS tdi? and what mileage. Ill have around the 6k mark.

I just got a clean 54 plate one with 79,000 miles and FSH for £3850

90% of them seem to be for sale between £3500 to £6500 so for six grand you should have a pick of the nicer ones. Remember to save a few bucks for a re-map though!

6k will get you a very tidy low mileage example probably on a 07 plate

Don't get caught out by over inflated prices some are for sale at

6k got me a silver vrs with 55k, belts done and full dealer history

Welcome to the forum.

Some good advice already.

6k is a good budget to start with.

I'd personally look for a mid to low miles 2005 ish for that. You could pick a good one up for 5k, then have 1k to play with for mods.

You'll want to look at a remap, 312m brakes, and coilovers out right.

One thing I found personally only was the drab interior. I've updated mine with leather all round, and professional gloss black trims to bring it up to date.

Id go for the SE vrs if you can find one, only comes in blue but has full leather, 6disk cd, cruise control etc

SE versions look rare at the moment. Also cruise control looks pretty cheap to add

Could anyone tell me is it just the special editions that have leather and trip computer?

There were only 1000 special editions as an end of production hoorah so they are rare. A lott of them have also bit the dust into hedges etc so they can be difficult to find.

The Blue SE's got leather as standard although it was an option on earlier cars but was £1200 so uptake wasn't huge.

A lot of early cars have had seat surgeons retro fit leather retrims to get rid of the silly light grey fabric - that said while my interior (like everyones) marks easily it does comes up lovely with a bit of foam cleaner.

All of them got trip comuters as standard.

I ask as some pictures ive seen have a little computer like screen in the middle of the dash? or is that the octa?

That's the maxi-dot display, extremely rare. I'm one of the lucky ones to have it. I've only none of two others.

It's better than the standard trip computer, in respect that it's utilises the larger screen for trip computer info, frees up the smaller screen for a permenant clock, has integration with sat nav, and displays car statues.

^^^what he said

Hi

I am thinking of selling vrs with 45k on the clock if you are interested. It's in magic black with sat nav, xenons, heated seats, electric sunroof, six cd auto changer, display thingy in middle of instrument panel. Car smells like new and is in immaculate condition. Haven't advertised it yet. Couple of pictures below.

Can only see 1 photo. looks nice mind you. Why you selling?

*also can someone answer about the cd player and speakers etc.. Ive seen the post about head units which have gave me a few idea.

But what about the speakers, the 1 I test drove did not sound great. I would not want to hack up the parcel shelf and just replace the internal speakers for better upgraded ones.

Any ideas

Apologies for the delay. Only selling because the missus has a company car with free private fuel, my work is only 5 miles from home so I either cycle or a colleague picks me up. Have just sold my 993 for this reason and I simply don't use the car. With regard the sound system, I do not know whether it is because it has the integrated sat nav but the sound in mine is amazing. Is the vRS still for sale?

Thanks.

I changed from the same car for the same reasons.

Fabia is much better in every way bar the exhaust note.

That's honestly all I have to say!
