What do you think about this cambel?

Featured Replies

It's a genuine part from Skoda, it is 1.5 year old but I don't know how many miles does it has :(( It looks a bit "rusty". Is this normal or do I have to change it ASAP? Thanks!

The belt looks ok, but I'd want to know where that rust residue came from.

Its not proper rust....but that color worries me. I hope is nothing wrong with it...

Maybe the water pump is leaking, was it changed with the belt?

Yes, the water pump was done on the same time with the cambelt but the thing is, when the engine reach 90 degrees Celsius I can feel a coolant smell coming from the engine compartment. Like boiling coolant....but I can not see and steam or something like that.

My money would be on a water leak.

The only way to find out would be to remove the timing covers and check the pump, you mite have to remove the engine mount to do that.

They come like that now, on most genuine kits they are coated differently to the standard belt, makes them easier to put on.
