blown lower boost pipe

Featured Replies

Got the car remapped on sat, all was well, enjoying the power, when pop, black smoke and no power :-(

The lower boost pipe that goes into the intercooler had shot off, a quick look a it and I could see that it had been off before, there were marks around it. Is this common after a map ? I am going to order a new pipe and seals today, but am dreading the cost :-(

Yes one of the most common things to happen after a map i would say. I just clipped it back in and put a large jubilee clip of the metal spring clip to try help it stay located. Alot of people put self tappers in it and get good results.

New pipe and clips will cost about £106, had to do this myself recently.

Not cheap then :-(

put a jubilee clip round then put 3 self tappers in will hold it until you can afford a new one!

Cheaper way is to buy the pipe from me lol

It's a DIY job really.

Ideally drive-up some ramps, remove under-engine plastic-tray to gain easy access to area affected.

There is a 'C' shaped clip each end of booster- pipe to keep-it in-place, with a plastic type seal slipped over each end of booster-pipe.

Fit (recommended) new 'C' clips in place, slide new seal over each-end of (male) booster-pipe, and shove new booster-pipe end into each end of booster-pipe (female) joints.

You should hear 'C' clips snap into place and trap booster-pipe into place.

Good-luck.

Did all my booster-pipes and seals but oil still weeps from booster-pipe joints.

Is it just the pipe that goes onto the intercooler u need or the hole lot?
