My Baby Has Arrived

Featured Replies

finally got my fabia this am very happy it is only a classic but it is mine moving of quickly is interesting with the fly by wire throttle it seems to lag is this normal?:D :D

The throttle lag is something which has been discussed on here previously - AFAIK it's an "economy"

thing, whereby the ECU controls the amount of fuel going into the engine depending on what

it thinks you need, rather than what you tell it... :D

Easy way round this is to never take your foot off the throttle totally, so you're always revving at

2k min - though you will experience significantly more mechanical wear this way... ;)

Glad you like it!

Rob.

Fabia - it IS normal (the lag) - and you'll soon get used to it. Just get into the habit of "blipping" the throttle just before you pull away!

Congrats on the new car! :)

There's also a "lag" on our Octy 1.6 - I've stalled on a number of occasions, especially on hill starts... :D - going forward or reverse!

But the blip on the throttle does work - I'm now getting used to it after three weeks. It also seems very, very odd getting back in a car without it - the accelerator seems soooo heavy!

Yeah, I'm forever stalling mine reversing it up the pavement

onto my driveway - don't want to be the muppet revving their

car! :D

Glad to know I'm not the only one though... :)

Yep - I normally end up giving it some revs before even starting to depress the clutch. It becomes so natural that you do it without even thinking.

BTW Rob - Like the avatar  :speaker: nts nts nts

glad you are having fun getting to grips with your new fabia, fabia!

Good to see another Fabia on here. We'll be overtaking the vRS boys soon. ;) The lag you are on about is a pain to start with, but you get used to it and forget about before long. Hope you enjoy your Fabia as much as the rest of us seem to and have fun posting. :D

Would this throttle lag be the same phenomenon with my 1.8T when I try to get away fairly briskly at the lights but only half try? It then bogs down for a split-second before picking up again. Doesn't really upset me but being me I just thought that it was me instead of the DBW...

(And it could still be me, of course, although I only have this happening in the Skoda from time to time.)

Hope you enjoy the new Fabia, mate. You'll find this forum about as friendly as it gets on the 'net. a great bunch :)

I get a bit of lag. Seems full-time to me, i.e. when driven "in a brisk or spirited manner" I've got to lift early when upshifting. Got to be just about off the gas *before* I start pressing the clutch otherwise the motor gets an extra few hundred revs. Not what you want when you're running to the redline. In fact I change up no higher than 5.5K rpms now because I still get a bit of over revving and can get caught out.

I might go to the dealer about it if I can't adjust my driving to it fully, see if it's a known "feature" which can be dialed out...

Regards,

Mark
