Trim Removal to access aerial base

Featured Replies

I am getting poor reception on my Stream radio, lots of breaking up and distortion. Holding down menu button I can access the settings info and see that the antenna is on but when I am driving around and monitoring signal strength, it varies enormously. I have just had a new aerial fitted by Skoda dealer, under their one year approved car warranty, in an attempt to solve the problem. What I want to do now is to check that there is no corrosion around the aerial mounting etc., then I shall check aerial plug into the head unit.If all checks out ok then its back to the dealer to have the head unit repaired under warranty. How do you unclip the trim to access the aerial underside?

Is it an estate or hatch?

On the estate you just use a sturdy flat screwdriver to prise the plastic trim panel off at the top of the boot opening. You can then put your hand in between the head lining and the roof to access the antenna. Not sure about the Hatchback, but it must be similar. You can't really see much of the antenna base, but you can feel it and may be able to feel for any signs of corrosion. It's easy to break the clips that hold the trim on, so I'd also be tempted to get some spare trim clips before you attempt removal.

But if it's still under warranty I'd be tempted to just get Skoda to look at it.
