I like pick ups and I like that idea.Think it makes everything look so much better

Mind you I suppose you lose all the space.Could be done on the same basis as the felicia pick up was (the fun) reckon they could sell those as fun sports vehicles.Throw all your stuff in the back and head for the beach :D

yep , that will set skoda apart from the vw crowd! :D funky pick up!

The front section up to the B pillar looks very much like a mountain dwelling hairy primate.

Roomster is a design study, an indication of future trends in Skoda design, and a testbed for a few ideas for a practical family vehicle. We'd dispute Skoda's claim that it combines an attractive, dynamic design and a generous, flexible interior "in one complete and harmonious whole", however, and that it has an "elegant smooth shape" - it really does look rather odd and awkward.

There's some interesting ideas here, though, and Roomster is a try-out for a number of useful functions. For example, its front passenger seat swivels right round, ideal for fitting a rear-facing child seat in a convenient position but without exposing the baby to front-end impacts and deployment of an airbag, and also enabling a front seat passenger to turn around and talk to the two people behind. Space between the two rear seats is potentially huge, with the rear seats sliding backwards and forwards by up to 750mm depending on luggage space requirements, and the flat-backed rear end with large expanse of tailgate glass leads to easy loading and excellent rear-view visibility. With the rear seats folded, it has the cargo room of a small van. A completely flat floor is created from front to back, with no console under the instrument panel and no transmission tunnel in the centre between the front seats. There are fastening points to mount bicycles, and sections of the seats pop out and swivel to accommodate inconveniently-shaped loads.

As with some vans and budget MPVs, only the passenger side has an opening rear door, but in the case of the Roomster, it's a positively huge sliding one which extends all the way to the rear bumper and has a low sill; "getting into the car with a pram, for example, is no problem", says Skoda. The design of the doors leads to a curious asymmetry, with the roofline rising in more of a curve on the passenger side to accommodate the door, and an additional pillar dividing door glass from rear quarterlight window. The roof features two longitudinal sunroofs, in thin strips; down the centre of the roof, anchored into the metal structure, is a storage console and housing for the ventilation units, items housed here rather than in the cockpit area. A single large glass panel would have been a more elegant solution, however.

Compact in dimensions - 4 metres long and 1.67 metres wide - Roomster potentially has a number of applications. Skoda also displayed four 1:4 scale models on its stand, showing how the basic Roomster could be converted into a taxi, a city courier delivery vehicle, a pick-up and even a convertible coupe-cabriolet, not dissimilar in idea to the Citroen Pluriel. It has a "solid foundation of engineering and design", said a Skoda spokesman, who confirmed that the company was collecting feedback on this show car in order to decide if it had a production future. As the VW Group currently has no practical, functional MPV in its range to rival the popular Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo, Fiat Doblo and so on, it just might become reality.

got that from 4Car :) dunno if it helps :lurk:

I am sorry but that is one ugly car, is it the new SMART?

cant think of any better looking mpv, van thing out there at the mo....think some of the design in it is quite funky

I think this looks pretty good tbh. I is pretty smooth & sleek, definitely interesting to look at. In the flesh it will probably look better, just like the octy II.

At least skoda are being granted the opportunity to try something new!

K

I think the inside of it is brilliant. But I suppose those fiat multipla owners say that too :D

I will still be interested to see what they do.Seems to have endless possibilities :)

YETI

Thats wot they gotta make :D

YETI

YETI

YETI

There doesn't seem to be much discussion on how skoda is moving in the future on Briskoda.Bit disappointing as there seems to be real changes in models and what skoda will be offering in the near future.Couple of newspapers and magazines have tried the yeti and seem impressed

It seems the yeti would be a possibility for 2007 with the 1.9tdi an option engine.I reckon decent engines( doesn't matter if its old,its still better than a rover k series!) would make it a rather interesting prospect and these wipe clean interiers they talk about for the roomster and yeti make them sound like good sturdy family cars.Bit more sensible than the fabia vRS with my wife at the wheel and two little ones having a go at the white seats.

Yep,come 2007 the Fabia vRS will go and it will be swapped for a yeti :D (please make it) in graphite grey or black magic with 1.9tdi pd 130 engine (or the 2.0 diesel has been suggested).

I will be sticking with octavias for 'dads car' though ;)
