Taxi and Greenline

Featured Replies

Hi,

So Im thinking of the Greenline 1.9 or other for 1000miles a week taxi around city. Im thinking a two year old model.....the MPG of 45 inner city sounds great...any backup on the mileage advertised or verification by others here would be appreciated. Can a few MPG be gained via the MAP on this model?

Got a boost of 3MPG on my old 07 1.9 Sup.

A car with a manual gearbox as a taxi....no way in hell. Otherwise, greenline, both 1.9 and this new 1.6 are very good. Just that DSG is missing....

I hardly ever dip below 50mpg in mine. When I am driving to work and the roads are clear I often get over 70mpg and once managed to hit 80mpg. Start/stop really helps for traffic.

Dont think the 1.9 greeline has start stop. Any other opinions on MPG economy inner city Taxi for the 1.9 Greeline ....1000 miles each week?

Considering a 2009 model.

All good advice welcome....

Only Greenlines have stop/start as far as I know (but I could be wrong).

Mine (2011 model) does. I get about 50-51mpg on my semi-urban commutes.

Does the Greenline have Privacy rear glass,

& does your Local Authority allow Taxis with Privacy Glass or only 'Hire Cabs'.

What Opinion have you received from other Taxi Drivers to the idea & have you asked a Skoda Mechanic of his experience of servicing any

Greenlines as Taxi's.

A friend of mine was told to avoid, but did his own thing, bought a new one & kept it about a 2 months.

Must ask why, when i see him.

Hi,

Its respected opinion here for many years now... that the 1.9 TDI 105bhp is a trojan workhorse ( when cared for correctly ) . Given that....the Greenline has a published inner city MPG rating of 45 ....even 40 MPG is great inner city.

As to your ref about privacy glass....I drive the Private Hire or Minicab / Hire Cab type....and they are allowed privacy glass on the rear only...not sure about other types of taxis?

Any taxi drivers care to comment futher on inner city MPG with the 1.9 G/Line?
