clio 172- octavia rs should i do it

Featured Replies

I need a bigger car, but one that will keep me entertained, the choice is the skoda octavia vrs or a subaru wrx wagon. I'm not going to be daft enough to ask you guys your opinion as i'm sure i know which one you'll go for. However any infomation on costs things to look out for would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

vRS. You won't get more bang per buck for the money.

However much I love subarus, the looks, that brilliant sounding engine,I would not have one.

From what I have read from former (and current scooby) owners they cost an arm and three legs to run.

vRS makes me grin over a year after having it.That x factor normally wears off pretty quickly when I buy a car.Not with this baby :D

We looked at the Scooby and the vRS when we brought ours 2 years ago, liked the Scooby alot but couldn't justify the running costs of one compared to the Octy.

If your looking for a lightly used vRS Estate I might just know were there is a lovelly Magic Black one for sale

I agree with the above.

When we got the dog we looked at the Impreza estate, Gallant VR4 and the Octavia. As fast big cars go, you cant really go wrong with the Skoda.

Unless you want a Rover MG ZT-T ?

I think that mcbunny on here did this, and went from a 172 to but to a furby vrs.

As I posted recently elsewhere on here, here is my reply to the same question ages ago on Scoobynet:

Had mine for 32 months, did 138k miles in it.

Fuel economy; motorways cuising at 80-85 indicated, I'd get about 38mpg, A roads about 35, brisk driving on A roads about 30-32, trackdays about 12 and the Ring about 8-10 mpg.

Servicing costs: You can either go variable servicing or fixed 10k servicing. I went 10k due to my mileage and needing to know when it would need a service. Costs were:

Thanks guys, the subaru pretty much single handidly keeps the Sultan of Brunei in yachts with it's fuel consumption. To be honest using my head there really is only one car to go for. However the heart is a hard thing to over rule. Mind 10.k for a VRS with 10k on the clock and on a 03 plate compared to 13k for a subaru estate on an o2 plate really should tell me which on e to buy.

I hate buying cars.
