I've seen absolutely amazing (70+ mpg) figures on journeys that are downhill for the first few miles so the engine can get to temperature without having to do very much work. I find if I avoid pushing

  • I get around 40 MPG average (see my signature and spritmonitor account, I'm the number 1 in fuel consumption for the 1.8 TSI DSG!), but to reach this value as average you have to make some sacrifices:

I have found my photo that I took a while ago, one of the best ranges I've seen, I always chicken out and refill between a quarter and half a tank if possible.

I've been running my 2013 Elegance Twindoor 4x4 Man 170hp Tdi for about 18 months now, and keeping careful records brim to brim. I've been driving mainly dual carriageway/M-Way, and generally keeping to 60ish, with the occasional thrap ;-)  My records are consistent - drive carefully I achieve 44.5mpg; foot down a little and get about 42.5. Best I've got was 46.2. My maxidot is a little optimistic, reading about 5pg higher. I'm not at all unhappy though, as it's at least as economical as my previous 2.2D manual Spor Prem Estate.
