Recommended Posts

Well I tried the vw gear linkage DIY adjustment guide from the maintenance section on this site ..on my 03 octy vrs .. Which has 80thousand miles on it ... What a difference it made ! It's acutally link driving a totally different car . Gear are slick and seems alot closer together . No sloppiness or sticking .. The link to the guide on this site is a must ;)

I had a go at this yesterday, turned into a nightmare!

Basically i followed the tutorial, locked in the two springs, locked the gear lever in place and then tried to lock the shift mechanism into home position. Struggled with this but noticed that one of my linkages was at a funny angle at the end of the 3 pin locking spring, tried to loosen it off and straighten it up and SNAP, one of the fingers snapped off... s*^t!!

Carried on with the reset hoping it would be ok, tried to select the gears and nothing, linkage just sliding in and out of the locking spring... doh!

Managed to bodge it together with superglue and it holds fine now, need to get a replacement though.

And the difference? Nothing, ha! If anything selecting reverse is a little better but thats about it.. All that trouble for not a lot of difference :D

i can not access the video. It tells it is private. How can I get access to it ?

You can't since the person who uploaded it has marked it as private which means only they can see it now.
