MOT and leaking shock absorbers

Featured Replies

If a car has an MOT test and the rear shocks have an obvious leak( not running out but still just covered in a film) is this a failure? Do they still do the bump test?

Chris

if the shocks work, it will just be an advisory....

I'd get new ones though .

The fluid leak has to be serious enough to indicate that the seals have failed, there is an advisory for 'a slight misting of oil'. The bump test is still done and will play a part in assessing the dampers.
