Heated washer jets

Featured Replies

Hey guys, just been browsing through skodaparts.com and found 'fabia heated spray jets 2000-2012'

Wondered if anybody knew the spec on which these were found and if cars without this fuction will have the wiring for them already in place, or if it is an easy modification? I'm guessing it would need to be activated by Vagcom.

cheers, Pete

I looked into this once.

Seems that it was only available from the factory in a few of the more northern countries.

The wiring isn't there already - and will no doubt be a pain to try and retrofit properly.

Yeah, I figured it would be something that needed to be fitted at the factory. I presume it would mean changing the whole IP wire harness for one with the extra branches.

I bet you can get kits though...

It the heated jets are like in a Golf mk4, then it'll just be two wires for each jet, run them back through the scuttle into the car, and wire directly to the electrical row under the steering column.

You could even connect them to work with the heated rear window switch if u wanted.

Not too difficult to retro fit, but arguably a waste of time in most cases.

The reason I say that is, I've had heated jets in previous VWs (mk3 Golf) and they still froze up when it was cold enough. The fluid still freezes up in the places it's not heated (ie the pipes leading to the jets).

The way around that was to use a much stronger washer jet solution in the first place... So kinda made me realise that heated jets actually aren't all that fab!!

There is a space in the fuse box for the heated washer fuse, but no fuse or connections. I'm sure I read in a brochure that they were, but may have been thinking of another car that had.

I've got them in the Polo, and it claims that they constantly heat, the temperature depending on the ambient temperature, so to fit properly would be a bit more work.

As said above though, the water still freezes, just not in the washers. Or, the snow/ice that forms under the scuttle panel blocks them anyway!
