Get the indy to get the parts from TPS then they will be genuine parts. Any indy half worth their salt and used to working on VAG cars will have an account at the local TPS.

They have parts centres in Swansea, Cardiff or Chester.

Cheers all :)

VAGCOM has been brought in, and it confirms what the garage saw that Glow Plug #3 is faulty.

Also, it mentions my intermittent wash wiper stalk is intermittent.

Also, it mentions my intermittent wash wiper stalk is intermittent.

I had this - it can be cured by a clean of the contacts, but in the end mine was replaced. They cost about £30-40 from memory. If you haven't noticed it and don't have Maxidot I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Nah - wipers are working fine.

I'd imagine a clean will help. My dad has a similar fault but on the other stalk - his cruise control is intermittent.

Get some aerosol contact cleaner and spray it in where the buttons/rockers are and twiddle them about a bit.

If you do this one night and leave until the morning to give it chance to evaporate it should help.

After doing some homework and deciding against bothering to do the work myself, I have found a local garage to do the work: -

Brake Pads were £64.80 all in (it would have cost me near that for a pair of pads and the tools to do it, then I'd have to fit it myself

CV boot - £60, getting done Tuesday. No chance I'd have done it myself really. Dealer wanted near £120 for this!

Jet and Blade I'll do myself when I can be bothered to order the parts :D

Glow Plug is the only thing that remains but only 1 failed, we will see. I'll probably do this myself though as I've read this is an easy enough job.

If they are fitting the genuine CV boots they are a bit of a pain as the heavy duty retaining clips need a special tool to tighten them up properly. You can do the large one with pliers, side cutters etc, but the small one on the driveshaft is an absolute nightmare without the correct tool.

Having seen how thick a genuine CV boot is I am surprised they split at all!

If the local garage is buying genuine parts get him to buy the washer jet and glow plug for you, he'll get them at trade prices.

Glow plugs are on trade club promo at TPS at the moment

Well I asked them three times about CV boots and had a different answer each time.

When the car went in for the brake pads on Saturday morning the chap very kindly took a look and told me that the reason that I might have been told "no" is that they can do the outer joint (that I need) but they said they cannot get the other type apart.
