Burning smell after reversing, 1.6tdi Dsg

Featured Replies

Anyone experienced this? Last 2 days after parking at home which involves a short reverse, I have detected a burning smell as I got out!!

No smoke, or any sign of anything amiss, smell goes within seconds!!

Might run it up the dealership tomorrow.

It will be the clutch ( oh wait yours is Dsg ) god awful things

Probably caught in doing a regen, they do smell a bit of burning when getting up to max temperature.

+1 Above.

I came across this within a few months of buying the car when reversing into the parking bays across from the house. Not sure if this is also part of the regen, but as well as the burning smell I could hear popping and pinging which I took was the exhaust pipe cooling down after the regen. .At the time I was doing regular short runs, now that I am commuting into work every day (round trip of 100 miles) I don't notice it now.
