Ive had a bad knock from the front end recently and suspect its gearbox mount?

Does this sound about right or is it more likley to be the 'dogbone mount'??

I can only assume there is no point in replacing with a standerd part

Could somebody point me in the right direction, a website or a phone number to where sells these mounts?

Anyone know the best ones to get??

When does the knock happen?

Drop links failed can be a common cause of knocking from the front.

Dogbone mount replacement on a diesel should really be done with the OEM part. Aftermarket can make cabin vibrations unbearable!

Both drop links have been replaced matey. Knock happens when you set off and come to a halt....

You can try take off the dogbone, very easy t do, just 4x 16mm bolts -

also check all bolts on the wishbone are tight

I guess the MOT will find it tomorow

Its more like a creak really. When i set off in the car it creaks about 5-6 times then its fine untill i break to a stop

The vibrations with a powerflex dog bone mount aren't that bad tbh!

Clonks when setting off can also be caused by driveshaft hub nuts either loose or over tightened or if they have been removed and not replaced.

I had my engine mounts and gearbox mount replaced yesterday and was recommended by the garage who now there motor sport stuff that i'd soon get fed up with poly bushes so OEM mounts were fitted and the car now feel tight as a drum. The old engine mounts were 9 years old @123k miles with lots of track action.

I also had a knocking noise on some corners and when reversing out of my drive and this so far seems to of disappeared after fitting the new mounts.

Just as a rough pointer, the Vibra Technics updated mount just for the cambelt side is £170 at the cheapest I found when looking.

thats what i thought when he said it haha

and Tech1e - as stated above ive had both drop links done

So what the fudge is a drumstick lol

Although, a track rod end looks more like a drum stick rather than a drop link,
