Does any know the socket wench size for removing the oil filter cap from its housing. I know its pretty large & I have in the back of my mind that its 38mm (1.5")

32 or 36mm, they did both.

As above, it's either 32 or 36 mm.

My 04 vRS is 32mm and my mothers 53 1.9TDI is 36mm. Have a read of this thread Oil change advice

Looking at Haynes Manual, torque settings are:

Sump Plug - 30 Nm (22lbft)

Oil Filter Cap: 25 Nm (18lbft) - it states only for 1.2 Petrol, no mention of any other models.

Must be 36mm as my 32mm socket doesnt fit!!

Odd that a 04 VRS would be 32mm yet a 53 VRS would be 36mm?

Why odd? There are two different caps.

Just saying... thought i would make sense to only fit one common size.
