Hey all just got myself an iPad and wondering what apps you are all loving. I have a few games the usual angry birds, temple run, slice and pin ball. Also have kindle app and a very good movie app called avplayerhd wich allows me to send movies from my laptops hard drive to my ipad via wifi (no over priced itunes movies for me :) ).

So bassicly what are some good games, techno apps and just plain cool apps you can recommened me to install?

Cheers, joe.

Just got rc plane 2. Pretty hard to get the grips of the controls but pretty addictive. Also bought stick man summer games wich is fun if played with someone else trying to beat each others best scores.

Got photosplashxd aswell. Very good photo editor if you have a steady hand

Where's my water

Cut the rope (+ experiments if you want more)

Free basic versions of above available to see if you like them.

Google drive for sharing stuff between computers and pads, if you don't want the Apple iCloud.

If you have Sky movies or sports, then Sky Go lets you watch stuff on the pad.

Loads of others to try. Keep a look of the App Store as quite often big games become free for a short period.

Crush The Castle

Cut The Rope

Chopper 2

Robot Rampage

Star Wars Falcon Gunner

Apache 3D SIM

They should get you off to an excited start :D

Zite and Flipboard are probably the 2 I use most. They generate themed news/magazine feeds. Use in conjunction with readitlater for offline reading

I found the Engadget app pretty good for tech news but don't use it now as the Engadget stuff feeds into the tech/gadget feeds in zite/flipboard.

For random quirkiness, planetary is an interesting way of seeing you music organised on you iPad.

Is using google chrome much better than safari. I have it on my laptop but havnt bothered on my ipad as im getting on ok with safari for now.

UKMap - it's about £10 but worth every penny, all the 1:25/1:10k OS maps you can download for no extra cost and works with your GPS if you have the 3g/4g version (GPS isn't on the non mobile data iPads iirc).

Ebay app.

For browsing I like Mercury - based on safari but with loads of options including adblocking.

Jailbreak and installous ;)

Whilst jailbreaking maybe legal, the uses of installous are not and discussions on that subject will not be allowed. A lot of apps now check for jailbreaking and will not function if the ipad has been, for example Sky Go is one that will not run.

I could never get the hang of Temple Run on the iPad, playing on the iPhone is much better as you dont need such long finger swipes to control the character.

As Ross pointed out, TVCatchup is good but if you want amazing picture quality then download filmon which is basically the same thing with a higher bitrate.

Top trumps? ;)
