Black smoke?

Featured Replies

Is it common for a fabia vrs to chuck black smoke out the back when it hits 3 and a half thousand revs? It has always has done it but I defo got a lot worse since I had It remapped my friend reckons its a bad map but I hear nothing but good stuff about shark on here so don't have a clue whats going on or if it's just normal.

I recently bought a vrs and in every gear it was always throwing out huge black smoke clouds, with the help of the guys on here i found it was a massive split in one of my boost pipes so id advise getting them checked, or even checking them yourself. Other than that ive heard a lot about re maps causing smoke anyways and lets face it, you never see a vrs thats not smoking

smoke at certain revs is normal or under load for a mapped vrs. Lots of black smoke most the time is likely a split or bad seam

Will give my boost pipes a check over then sounds like good advice. Hope it's something straight forward like spent enough money on it lately don't you just love cars

I read a great quote on vwaudi forum "1.9 tdi ****ting black smoke all over a prius near you"

I replaced the pipe that was split and its stopped the black smoke but it cost me £165, id advise getting the full set of silicone ones from sfs performance for around £200, ive heard good things about them
