That noise!

Featured Replies

Someone please help me!

This noise is literally sending me round the bend!

It only happens with the bonnet down, I can't make it happen with the bonnet open. I have packed the hinges with grease, adjusted the bump stoppy things etc.

What the hell is it?!

Thanks

Have you got a strut brace or anything? Or hydraulic bonnet lifter?

Is the seal round the engine bay ok?

I have a strut brace but I had this problem before I fitted it.

Kenny, the rubber seal looks well nourished and in good condition.

There are 2 plastic pads that push fit into the hinges near the bolts that attach the bonnet, one each side, and they can cause rattles. It might be clutching at straws, but it's worth pulling them out as they seem to do nothing useful.

Regards,

Bob

Rubbing on top mounts maybe??

Everything is right dude.

under the rubber seal, you have plastic from scuttle, and it butts up against metal from bulk head, held together by the seal itself. would that make the noise? Or maybe the sound proofing attached to underside of bonnet?

At least its not a head gasket :giggle:

There was a thread about 3 - 6 weeks ago about this, I seem to remember that 2 rubber blocks were removed and the noise went away.

It's worth trawling back through the posts.

Here you go, I think this is it http://www.briskoda....onnet +creaking

Mogywe - I could literally kiss you! Iv'e just got my trusty tub of Vaseline and caked the rubber stops... It seems to have worked!!

Tomorrow I'm going to go and shave a tiny bit off them as there is obviously too much pressure on them.

Thanks folks, this forum has saved me AGAIN!

Kiddy1, no don't bother with the kiss, honest.
