What can you fit in a Citygo?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to work this out. I've taken up cycling to work and I might get into it much more. That would mean I have less use for a car, and so a Citigo would do me just fine.

Question: Will this...

...fit inside the car?

No, Mike hasn't gone mad. Take the wheels off the bike, fold the seats down. Will the bare frame fit inside?

Other options are of course a rack on the roof or hanging it off the back, but if it will go inside, there is no mpg penalty when transporting the bike :)

What do you think?

It will fit in a Polo/Fabia with just the front wheel off so i would imagine so.

I am sure if you take your bike to a Skoda dealer they will let you try it out.

I tried it in my Fabia with just the front wheel off and it would not fit. Those are 700c wheels, bigger than MTB 26" wheels. An MTB would fit, a road bike won't, both wheels have to come off. It would go in a Fabia Estate though, but if it'll go in the Citygo, it would save me a lot of cash over running the Fabia.

I'll take it along to the dealer and try it for sure.

Ah ok, this was a 26inch MTB i got in my courtesy car!

Mike, if it helps you any, I know the boot without spare wheel is 24" deepfrom floor to parcel shelf and at least another 12" to the roof.

From the inside of the boot edge to the back of the front seats is 46" ( set comfortably for my 5'10" frame ) and could be slid quite a few inches forward of that.

I reckon you bike will go in with room to spare ?

Interesting, the frame measures at 47 - 48 inches, so it might even fit lengthwise! I'm impressed. It will probably fit easily on a slight diagonal. Many thanks!

Take the bike to the dealership and ask if you can try it for size -I've done this before. Take a blanket if the bike is dirty.

Also went out for a test drive in an SE 60bhp. What a lovely little car, light on it's feet, but still solid on the road, no rattles or squeaks, goes better than I thought it might. 5th is only for cruising though. Loved the 3cyl rasp it has too. That's another car on the list, I'd have an Elegance 75bhp I reckon :)

EDIT: if VW really are going to put a turbo version of this engine in the Up! PLEASE let Skoda put it in this too, it'll be a right hoot :D

Glad it fits.

Looks like there's plenty of room for the wheels and your kit too

Looks like it. Can pop a soft overnight bag in the boot, the back of the frame can rest on it. Plenty of space for the wheels to sit on top and some space left over. Should be no problem.

I have a soft bike bag -it's not padded and doesn't have wheels so it doesn't add too much bulk, but it's a lifesaver for your interior when putting a wet and dirty push bike in the back.

I'm sure it's a tardis.

We managed to get a double bed frame and a single wardrobe in!

They were flat packed but even so.
