snapped stud

Featured Replies

re-fitting my brothers cat and whilst re-moving the de-cat a stud on the standard flexy has snapped. any ideas on the best way to remove this so we can replace it with a bolt??

was thinking about drilling it out, would heat help this at all??

btw the stud goes right the way through the flange with a bolt like head on the other side but with out the hex head, not a screw in stud like on the block

Sounds like a bit of butchery is required mate. The existing stud might be splined and pressed in and chances are if you've snapped it already it's well in.

sorted now and you were right. after drilling a 3mm, 8mm and attempting a 10mm hole in both studs(the other looked dodgy), hammering and using a junior hacksaw they are out. tough bloody things them studs!!

Glad it's out now though eh. Don't forget a slight smear of copper grease to help you next time.
