Can anyone point me to where I can find the engine codes for the various Octavia models - and all current Skoda models if possible? (eg the 1.8T 4x4 is ARX). Part of my reason for asking is that I want to post a list of engine oils that meet the various VW specs. And to do that it would be useful if I knew which Octavia diesel engine is code ATD, since the oil requirements of that particular engine differ from the rest of the diesel range.

Results so far:

Octavia 1.8T 4x4 ARX (2002)

Octavia 1.8T vRS AUQ

Past and present engine codes for the Octavia are:

AMD/AXP/AEE/AEH/AKL/AVU/AUM/AUQ/AGU/ARX/AQY/AEG/APK/AZH/BCA/AQM/AGR/ALH/ATD/AHF/ASV

Now all I need to do is work out which engine goes with which model

What I have found so far is;

AMD/AXP =1.4

AEE/AEH = 1.6 55kw and 74kw respectively

AGR/AGP/AHF = 1.9 Diesel

AGN/AGU/AGQ = 1.8

AHF/ALH/ATD/ASV/AQM = 1.9 TDI

AQY/AEG/APK/AZH=2.0

AKL is also a 1.6 as is AVU

ATD was one I wanted to pin down because it needs different oil from the rest of the diesel range. I see from the above list that it is fitted to the Golf IV Variant and 4Motion 1.9 TDI IC PD. Am I correct in assuming that it is one of the new PD diesels, and that they are not fitted to the Octavia as yet?

That'd be the TDI 150 I think.

I have three cars with VAG engines and can give you these definites

1.8T (180bhp) Skoda RS - AUQ

1.9 Sdi (68bhp) Skoda Octavia - AGP

1.9TDi PD (115bhp) Ford Galaxy - AUY

Open the bonnet and look middle left of your engine cover. Just under the cover your code should be stamped on the block.

Mine is a 52 plate Feb 2003 model and is AUQ.

It will be AUQ, the AGU is a 150bhp cable throttle engine and was never used in the vRS.
