Paint blisters

Featured Replies

My Yeti (2 years old) has developed 2 paint blisters (one on each of the front doors). Pics currently away for assessment by Skoda UK but dealer suggesting caused by stone chips. Have owned cars for 30+ years and had many stone chips before but never had blisters, so I'm not convinced. One of the blisters has a tiny rust mark in centre. Any ideas?

Hello Martin and welcome along

Perhaps a small imperfection which has let water get in under the paint and 'blister', anyhow good luck with Skoda UK.

Welcome Martin,

I had something similar with mine a while ago (drivers door), felt like a grain of sand under the paintwork. When I spotted it the lacquer was intact, but by the time I could get it to the dealer it has split. Dealer agreed it was an imperfection of some form, but warranty disagreed. It took some effort and much support from the dealer to get Skoda UK to agree.

Talking to the body shop manager after they repaired it, the cause was a spot weld where it shouldn't have been.

I have just finished washing my 2010 Yeti Elegance and I have found half a dozen or more paint blisters on the lower part of the drivers door. Absolutely nothing on the other three doors. I will take it into the dealers tomorrow but these are not stone chips. As you say, I have had other cars with stone chips and even few on the Yeti but they haven't got under the paint. This doesn't seem like a one off.
