Coilovers on! And Couldnt be happier - Pics

Featured Replies

They arrived this morning and i got in about it. Took all day cos i had a few snapped bolts and needed to drill and cut a few.

They are down about 70% of theyre capabilities but it was as low as i wanted to go. The ride is surprisingly comfy, hard of course but not out of the way, very little bounce, love the sound of the gas shocks.

Even hard bumps that would normally bootm out and crash my old struts these take em with no banging etc, cornering is ace too.

All in all for £165 i am ecstatic.

On pic 5 notice how close the strut is to the tyre, its just touching just and no more - cant hear or feel resistance, its literally as close as you could ever get

and on the last pic you can see how close chassis is to the deck, hope i can avoid problems

However I will never do this job again for a long time, I did NOT enjoy myself. :giggle:

Looks well, and making me consider the budget coilovers when I was determined to wait and get Weitec GT's or the like.

I wish I knew how to do them myself, too.

easy if it goes well, but one dodgy bolt can ruin a good run. 8 hours in total. phew

Looks sweet there buddy, glad you are happy and great price for a cheap set if they are comfortable you got a bargin.

Your rear tyre on the inside looks well worn?? Or is it bad pic.

well worn inner edge only, from bad tracking when front mounted, 90 % has 5 mm though so safe. but yes need to match up rears sometime as tyres are different. photos dont really give the genuine look of how low it is, but she kisses one or two things on ground in blairgowrie

cheers mate

I think I'd try it if there was a good guide for doing it on the vRS.

Looks good m8 very low lol, keep an eye on the shocks incase the tires start rubbing

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

will do, the bit that is close to tyre is set anyway so moving parts can get nowhere near. tis pretty low, only scuffs plastic inner arch on big bumps

Lovely! Looks very good. That is tempting. Why do you have to live in bonnie Scotland? You need to relocate to the south... so you can help me waste my money... :D

looks good bud.

Hopefully it rides better now than when you picked me up from the airport!

No reports of turbulance!

Cheers cuz, aye much better, and lower of course, doesnt jump up and down on every bump, it is a good bit harder than stock, but feels intentional.

Never be as comfy as the 4x4 though, however ill race you round a corner any time

Yes. Exactly that, you massive scrote with yer chavvy Skoda. :D Fair enough... I would like to do that... was finally fitting my new grille tonight and saw how much the car looks like a tractor.

Is it just a straight fit from the old suspension, i.e. take old stuff out, put new stuff in and drive..?

MOAR LOWER!

Pretty much yes, just put strut top mounts and bushes from old to new. Providing nothing snaps or rounds, it could be done in a few hours but i had a snapped bolt, and it was captive nut so took a bit of time, had to drill it out, then cut a wee hole other side, put a longer bolt through, with a nut on top of the drilled captive one.

Largely though this doesnt happen. Most cases love it, can only imagine a couple scenarios i feel it may be annoying, but not that much

Have you driven or do you have access to an Octavia with more expensive coilovers? I'd be interested in a comparison.

Cant help there, but to say that i have no issues with the drive on these, considering the degree of drop

Still looks shiny from our polishing efforts with the Eukanuba Wax (haha).

Also grill works well, the pic you sent to my phone was difficult to see.
