Some great work there Joe. Does look pretty good on a yellow un... saw Janno's (big jase's old vRS) in the flesh last year when i met the last owner in Aberdeenshire.

Gotta few questions about this whole fmic mod, but will keep those until we hook up i think as far too many and don't wanna clog up your thread!

Great work.

Will you be carting out any logs to see what the intake temp now is with the FMIC?

No problems, see you next weekend.

I could do, it wouldn't be much trouble.

It has arrived

Im contemplating putting a few holes in the front to aid cooling. Whats your thoughts?

I wouldn't bother Joe, let it do its job. I never found mine to be restrictive to the IC tbh.

Cool cheers mate. Didnt know if it would look pretty cool or just down right cr*p either :S

Hm with big holes in visible through the wide mouth it'd look pants I think, also may attract plod attention if they see it parked up and are a bit clued up on things lol

Wow that thing looks tiny/thin compared to the standard item, what car is it off exactly as I've only just skim read the second page tbh lol (referring to the crash bar incase you wondered what I ment) lol

Mk4 Ibiza dude

Cheers for that buddy.

Any chance of some measurements of the Std fab item compared to this one Joe?As I'm thinking of adding holes to mine as and when I go for the big mouth but may just go for one of these if they are small enough

Yer i can measure and take side by side shots. Only thing i have to do on this is cut the bit with the smaller holes seen on the photo.

Also my fabia crash bar is the shorter type as there are two types thats why the ibiza one looks abit longer.

Smashing fella, certainly is a massive difference in size between them. Think this may well be the route I take with mine as and when I go big mouth some point next year.

Is the Fabia one hollow at the rear Joe? Or is it like a solid kind of thing?

What I mean is could I take it off and drill some holes then bolt and intercooler in that way? :)

  • Author

It is sort of hollow but has sections at the rear to get into, i drilled mine as you can see the bolts from my old brackets from my old cooler.

Is it a straight fit then mate?

  • Author

I have to cut the smaller holes off the top of the mounts and that is it bolting on wise but for my fat cooler i have to space it or trim it slightly, a normal seat sport or thinner type cooler would be fine though.

Thanks mate, I can't wait to get on with mine, I don't have the funds for a few weeks yet as I had to buy 2 new tyres last night :(

Bumper back on with all pipes and plenty of clearence for the fogs so i am very happy.

Miles of room on the right side(the lump on the right is what need to be cleared)

And the left side that is abit tighter but still clears nicely.

Just need to make some ally spacers up now to see if my crash bar will foul the bumper.

...washers...

  • Author

I can just turn some ally bar in work monday and drill a hole through and part to length. I havnt got enough washers here to test. I have had a close look and i think it will foul the bumper so i think a combination of spacers and small cuts will be the answer to cut the least amount of the bar.

  • Author

started playing with the crash bar today. i could not space it out as it will foul the bumper. so i have cut into it to fit the cooler behind and also had to cut some off either end as it was longer than the fabias bar. after cuting the bar to allow the intercooler to fit behind i could flex it with my hand so there is no strength left in the middle. i have now decided to do away with the middle and just have the stumps for corner support if i ever needed it. the bumper bars act in no way for handling as the ibiza bar is so thin it will flex in cornering with no cuts. i also have a strut brace to aid stiffness so am not worried about this anyway. so basicly the bar looked alot better behind the big mouth but just isnt benifiting me having the middle in anyway.
