First lomg drive with my monte :)

Featured Replies

Just thought id share my views and opinions on my Fabia Monte Carlo after my first longish drive.

The trip was 45 each way. 1hr 15 im not sure on exact breakdown of different roads but id say roughly 75% Motorway/dual-carrage way and 25% A/B roads and a few country lanes

The car a 1.2TSI 86 Monte

Now on the motorway the fabia seems refined smooth and quiet and very relaxing, my girlfriend and a few other people who have been a passenger in it. Say it feels bigger then it is (in terms of ride etc)

Now once off the motorway the monte becomes intresting.

I personally find the comination of sports suspension and factory fitted tyres, is very confidence inspiring. It just seems to go round corners so well to the point i thought i could probley go faster should i of wanted to.

It has little body roll through corners, and the sports seats do a very a good job at holding u still.

However the trade of for this its a bit of bumpy ride on some of the the bad roads we tend to find with in the UK (something i expected and hardly suprising)

The engine also suprised me to, very responsive torquey. Pulling well out of corners, i find the engine note quite nice to listen, hard to describle but a lot better then listening to a rattle ol' diesel.

Now for MPG,

Now i manged to do 48MPG which obvioulsy isnt quite the figure stated on the book. Which is obvious. But i think i could get more from it if i tweaked my drving.

It would be good to see your thoughts on that figure?

Its not a millions miles away from my old Corsa CDTi figure of 54MPG average, but this is a lot better to drive.

Summery

A good all rounder, comfy and settled when cruising. Yet comes to life when the roads get twisty.

Its no VRS but still loads of fun :)
