changing sidelight octavia mk1 vrs

Featured Replies

Hey,

Could someone point me in the right direction on how to change the sidelight bulbs on the octavia thanks in advance

With normal headlights units, just release the metal catch on the back of the headlight assembly, remove the door, pull out the sidelight bulb plug (maybe twist it or pull - it is pretty obvious, just don't be like a chimp). Pull out old bulb from the holder, insert new bulb, check it works and then reassemble.

This job should take seconds.

That sounds better. Clearly these cars weren't originally designed to incorporate xenons as they make several things more difficult.

Small hands are a bonus for this job. The mk1 Fabia is a PITA to change the bulbs on. I changed some bulbs on a work mates car - it was freezing and I had to remove the battery to get to the back of the headlight assembly on the passenger side. Stupid design - I hated Skoda for that as I got very cold fingers!

At least it ain't a megane, the new ones can be up to 200 quid to change a bulb, inner wing plastics and wheel have to come off for a start

For a French car, that is a bit pants, as I thought you had to easily be able to change bulb at the side of the road, otherwise your backside belonged to the Frog Police...

Same as my old Civic- it was easier to change a regular headlight than it was a sidelight... bring back the Capri!

MK2 mondeo, headlights needed to be removed, which was time consuming. You have to remove all the upper front trim to get access to some of the screws.

Awesome shall have a look at that, had quite a few cars the mk2 focus was a pig to change bulbs on while the dodge ram dayvan was easy to change bulbs on
