Remap

Featured Replies

I have a 2003 1.4 v8 MPI Fabia. I would like to play a bit with its fuelling and ignition maps. Any ideas about the programs which I can use?

Tuner pro is free. You can use the trail of winols.

You got a wide band lambda sensor?

Not yet, but I am going to. I wanted to secure being able to fiddle with the ecu first. I have been trying with it for 3 days with no luck at all :/

Have you read your ecu? Care to share the file?

Being non-turbocharged (Naturally aspirated) you won't gain as much power as a Turbo car (especially TDIs) as there is no boost to play with. However I'm sure you can make it smoother without any flat-spots in the power delivery, with a little more power than stock.

ull probably get more power gains from a air filter + back box on a 1.4 petrol than a remap m8.. they were never de-tuned at factory like the tdis were..

I am going to work a lot on the car. Cam, custom manifolds, and a lot more. All of that needs reprogramming.

TunerPro is a dead end. First, It did not detect my VAG-COM cable. Second, It is mainly for GM products; you need definition files to get it to work (.xdf and .ads).

Next stop is winols! :/ ... I have read that someone here was using it on his octavia ... I can't believe how much time I am spending on this which is going all to waste ... I knew it is going to be the worst part of this project!

I would share this right away. It has been so frustrating and guiding people though this would make it feel much better.

Most tuners would leave fueling alone and play with ignition and lambda values. Winols is the industry standard and in my opinion is by far the most versatile software but by no means easy to use. It deals with raw hex values, so you'll need to know factors and offsets once you actually locate the correct maps, experience makes the difference.

Keep us posted in your progress.

but by no means easy to use.

Thanks for the encouragement :/ ... I know; I looked at several youtubes about it and does not look good at all :/

If anyone know other programs do please suggest

If you want to learn more, it's worth paying for a professional tuned file and comparing it to the original, you'll be dealing with maps in both 8bit and 16bit hex.

Just to make this clear.

Are you expecting tunerpro/winols to be able to read your ecu via your vag-com cable? If so your on the wrong path. This software is used for reading/editing the hex file. To download/write your map requires either an obd interface or EEPROM programmer.

Personally I've not got the hang of tunerpro. Winols is my chose like bondi.

One thing to remember. Don't expect the software to auto detect the maps for you. You have to find them yourself which means you need to know what your looking for and then know the factors and offsets.

If the above your already aware of then carry on :) if not then have you looked at going to aftermarket management like an emerald?

The thing I have seen people one youtube doing it with a VAG-COM cable :/ ... Anyways, could you tell me more about the proper hardware??

About aftermarket chips, I think I have seen better :/ ... Yet, I am not at that point yet. I really want to work on the ecu itself because I don't want to cut any wires and I don't want to get lost in the harness.

Netmoto software can be used but that's only for the me ecu's like the ones used in the 1.8T's.

I believe your ecu is a Siemens but not 100%. You'd have to look at the likes of Amt cartech, alientech, cmd for interfaces but I think you'll be shocked at the costs lol. Eg cmd your looking at around £10k, alientech around £4k. Mpps £2k.

But this is a project by itself. Don't expect to be able to download your map, load it into a program and edit the maps in a day. You will have to find the maps which could take you months and that's assuming you can find the offset data. You might not be able to.

Be easier to take it to a pro. Maybe find one that lets you get a little envolved as he does the work.

Yes, it is Siemens ... And you made me really worried!!

Good advice from faboka VRS ;) it's not easy, but if you willing to put a LOT of time and effort it's possible.

Yes, it is Siemens ... And you made me really worried!!

That's why i mentioned going standalone ecu. This way you can simply plug your laptop in and away you go. After spittle rewiring :)

After spittle rewiring :)

That is what I am worried about :/ ... and I don't want to cut the harness into pieces :/

winols is out of the pic too :/ ... Lets talk more about stand alone ecus and piggyback ecus.

Piggyback: The nicest I have seen it the AEM Fuel/Ignition Controler but you can't change the RPM limiter on that one. 6k won't be enough from me!!

Stand alone: What about the dash, the aircon compressor, radiator fans, petrol vapor solenoid, ...
