jom coilovers adjustment issues..

Featured Replies

Hi guys fitted my joms last weekend and a couple of things are niggling me..first is that i get a clunking over pot holes in the road but only from the left hand side..

And the second is ive adjusted them by counting the threads with the car jacked up and the front is perfectly level whereas with the rears the left side is higher than the right? Maybe by one fingers width?

Any ideas?

Cheers :)

Lower the left by one fingers width. Or raise the right by one fingers width. The clunk may be the strut top nut loose or the arb hitting something, are you using standard drop links?

I've got jom coilovers with strut brace and shortened drop links and I've got a slight knock at very slow speed turning had it checked out by a specialist he said nothing is hitting or rubbing he said it could be the coils rubbing/turning as the car is lowered and has a strut brace which stiiffens it up quite a bit hope this might help as I have a similar issue.

The clunking will probably be the strut top nut loose as above

Yer the nut will be loose had this on an old set of mine! Take the damper out, put some loctite on and tighten back up with a punch and hammer.

Ok thanks guys this is the nut that ia underneath the top mount yes? And not the top mount nut? If that makes sense? :D

No, where the piston rod goes into the actual damper if you know what i mean? Its a round nut

ok great thanks, i assume the damper has to come out for this to be tightened as previously stated?

cheers :)

If you can get the car high enough you can do it in situ (undo top mount), not tooo hard a job
