Fabia vrs judder at idle

Featured Replies

Hi all

Any ideas what this could be?

Car starts and runs fine...

At idle after a couple of minutes sitting still I can feel the engine start to judder very slightly every few seconds...

Opened the bonnet and you can visually see the engine moving back and forward every time it does it?

I'm new to these cars as I've always worked with vauxhalls...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Its an 05 plate ASZ engine... Also when driving and you put your foot down sounds like the engine is ticking... Not sure if this is normal with this engine but if anyone can help that would be great

Need to get VCDS on it. Check injector values and a few other measure blocks. Had it had a cambelt? If all these check out possibly a dual mass flywheel fault.

Yeah it's just had a full service with cambelt and waterpump... Not sure if it will be flywheel and no noise change when depressing the clutch as you would expect... I need to get myself a VCDS...

How much are they?

It sounds like the cambelt timing may be out. Checking MBV would tell you this, you can have it pinned up correctly but that doesn't mean injector timing is spot on. This would cause a wobbly idle.

Sorry for sounding stupid but whats MBV?

thanks

Measure Block Values

Gives live data from the engine in a format you can read. Displayed on VCDS or diag equipment.

ok cool, i've got my own code reader so will take a look today and post up to see if someone can help

thanks

I've got a similar thing on mine, seems to vibrate alot, doesn't seem to matter whether hot or cold.

I have a shark remap on mine and have a shark hand held plug in thing, does this diagnose faults aswell?

when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? We had a problem with Fram fuel filters a while back we had loads of local cars in with engine judder. Turned out the fuel filters where not sealed correctly and letting air in. If you live near shreswbury drop in il give it a look over and stick it on vagcom for you :)

Mine was serviced a skoda so I presume they used genuine parts.
