slight vibration in cabin octavia 2.0tfsi

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Picked up a 2006 Octavia vrs petrol on Tuesday. The car is gewat and I'm loving it so far apart from one thing. When idle, I can feel some uneven vibrations through the seat. feels lIke Im beIng bounced around ever so slIghtly. It's nothing major and the revs don't fluctuate at all. The engine sounds fine as well. The car pulls perfectly through the gears and the engine, once above 1k rpm is perfectly smooth.

I've been researching online and it seems it could be anything! I've read everything from it being a traight of the engine to it being signs of dmf failure (though there is no clutch slip and all gears are very smooth, also no vibration at all when driving).

Any ideas?

Cheers

JT

Read Adhal's post today. Engine or gearbox mounts. If yours is petrol then it has the same as mine, an almost imperceptible vibration which I have just started to notice. No biggie I reckon and I will get it looked at the next routine service.

Thanks for the reply. How much are we talking to get new engine and gearbox mounts fitted? Is it something that can be done fairly easily as a DIY?

One other possible thing that it could be is that i have only had 95 RON in it since buying it as the place i filled up at on the way home from collecting it had no premium stuff. Could this be the culprit? I know that it can run on 95ron but that it is better on 98 ( well, so says the filler cap) but would lower octane petrol give the engine a slightly more lumpy idle/cabin vibrations?

I know I havent had experience with the Octy 2.0petrol , but the previous petrols used to do this if I changed fuel between premium and regular. so it could effect the judders. I think it's due to the ECU adjusting to the type of fuel its burning. A bit like a heart palpitation?!

Funily enough,as an analogy, that is exactly what it is like, a minor sort of heart palpitation that you can feel through the seats! First thing i'l do is fill it with V power next week when i fill up and see if that changes anything. If not, i will have to investigate the engine/gearbox mount thing.

I also don't know whether it has had the coil packs done under recall, so i will check this out. I think my problems would be a bit more severe though if it was the coil packs.

Also, i don't suppose anyone knows where i can get a full list of the recalls that should be carried out for a 2006 VRS?
