Yeti's in Cumbria

Featured Replies

Just spent a week on holiday in Cumbria and almost every other car spotted was a Yeti - did I miss a convention somewhere or are they the popular choice for use on the little winding roads?

Personally, mine behaved all week, loved the little mountain passes and tracks, Sat Nav worked brilliantly finding places to visit and giving me an average of 41 mpg (which Im quite happy with).

The only complaint I got was from the backseat where the comment was it was a little uncomfortable over the bumps and could do with more headroom for 6 footers - the first complaint in 2 yeears :-(

Can't say I have noticed a large number of Yetis in Cumbria (I live there). However I tend to avoid the central lakes during tourist season and perhaps it is a bit of a magnet for Yeti owning tourists.

Plenty around Keswick not counting the visitors.

Better on the road than my old Golf Mk4 but not as comfortable ride or as quiet engine wise.

Still very pleased with it.

Yep, Keswick is a hot spot in Cumbria for Yetis and I've seen several around Egremont/St. Bees - I too have had a complaint that the ride wasn't particularly smooth as a rear passenger.

Are the cars with uncomfortable back seats all on 17" wheels?

When i was in the Lakes in June i noticed a large number of Yeti's and even made comment to my GF about the number of them up there and how it would have been good to have a Yeti myself when we took our trip to Scotland and went down a few of the forest drives.

I did wonder if my complaint was caused by running the 17 inch rear tyres harder than normal because of the extra load (family of 4 plus luggage)

The ability to recline the back seats is a big plus for the Yeti.

In many cars with fixed back seats the angle is usually over-upright probably to maximise boot space.
